For two decades The Melancholy Babes have been freewheeling along musical highways, exploring the vast universes of composition, improvisation, musical games, graphic scores, maths equations, pure energy, emotional intensity, humorous melodies and diabolical head fuckery. Along the way they have collaborated with a multitude of heavy shoe wearers such as Mike Nock, Han Bennink and Marilyn Crispell. The trio brings an exhaustive and obsessive knowledge of jazz history to their music, which bristles with a volatility that can explode like a herd of elephants stung by hornets on sensitive scrotes, or drop into a joyous Baby Dodds meets P. T Barnum circus freak show at the drop of a Pork Pie.
For the second set the Babes will be joined by guitarist, instrument inventor, bandleader and sonic adventurer Daniel Beban. Daniel travels the spaceways with many groups including the Orchestra of Spheres, Sign of the Hag, the Rubbernecks, the Perms and more. He is a true original who pushes the possibilities of the electric guitar to it’s limits.
