'Creep' is a brand new show devised, written and performed by the members of our company. This will be the inaugural production in our new venue, the Many Hats Theatre at 344 Manchester Street. We have worked hard for some time to develop our new 'black box' theatre space and look forward to establishing it as a working theatre and a local venue that might reflect the community more closely.

'Creep' is a show where the performers talk in both abstract and personal terms about disability. They are drawing on their own experience and exploring ways to communicate that to an audience.

Many Hats is a theatre company made up of adults with intellectual disability. Skillwise, a community organization supporting adults with intellectual disability, asked us to develop and expand their drama course.

We formed Many Hats Theatre Company by taking a number of individuals with little or no theatrical experience and introducing them to a wide range of performance techniques, everything from poetry and puppets to improvisation and verbatim theatre. From these modest beginnings we explored how the performer might best express themselves through these techniques, and then how these 'expressions' might be worked into scenes. From these scenes we develop a performance, at times also bringing in professional actors, theatre technicians and musicians to work with the group.

We work to discover which approaches suit which performers, who responds well to what, who shows interest and the manner in which they engage with the various approaches.
