Veteran bluesman Darren Watson returns for the frst time in ages with his exciting band The Dangerous Experts. Adding their bluespertise to Watson’s impassioned vocals and wailing guitar are the by degrees swinging and pounding drums of Rick Cranson, the funky, hip-shake inducing bass stylings of Steve Moodie, the pianistic invention (and pink organ) of Dayle Jellyman, and it’s all topped of with the perfect slinky percussion of Delia Shanly.
If you’re a fan of big, chomping grooves and original, dirty, dirty blues and soul this is one show you do not want to miss.
"Showing his measured approach to country blues, New Zealander Darren Watson takes on the moneyed class, deceitful politicians and two-timing lovers in the words to his well-drawn, engaging tunes, all eight respectable of tradition without seeming unctuous or archaic. There are, indeed, fresh qualities to his vocals and guitar work, and the resulting warm vibe can suggest Guy Davis." - Downbeat Magazine (USA)
"Darren, you’re a mutha!" - Rick Holmstrom (Mavis Staples Band)
"Anyone who thinks only Americans can authentically sing the blues should listen to this album by the New Zealander Darren Watson. It’s outstanding from beginning to end – the fnest blues album this reviewer has heard in quite some time." - Blues Matters Magazine (UK)
"This is an enjoyable collection of timely tunes, with great performances all around, highlighting Watson’s soulful guitar playing and his powerful vocals. If you’re a fan of blues done right, I think you might enjoy Too Many Millionaires. I know I did." - Blues Blast (USA)
