Did Jesus Exist? A Fiesty Debate

Many people, Christian or not, have accepted without question that Jesus existed as an historical person. More recently mythicism has emerged asserting that no historical Jesus ever existed and that Christianity is a literalisation of centuries old Greek and Egyptian myths and that the Gospels are best understood as allegory, a view adamantly opposed by a number of biblical scholars.

This course will explore both sides of this often acrimonious debate about the place of Jesus in history, and whether the Gospel story is predated by ancient myths originating many centuries before.
