Whether local or a visitor you are invited to join a small group tour to enjoy and learn about Wellington's spectacular South Coast. The tour departs from Wellington's Western suburbs (Johnsonville through to Karori),

We begin the tour with panoramic views from the rugged coastline at Owhiro Bay, and (fingers crossed) a view of the South Island. Morning tea at the Te Kopahou Visitor Centre provides an opportunity to learn the tales of this intriguing part of the coast.

Next we make our way to Island Bay, discussing points of historic interest along the way. We visit the studio of local artist Michael McCormack, well-known for his paintings of Wellington's south coast.

The excellent, long-standing Elements Cafe in Lyall Bay will host us for lunch, then we'll stop for a gander in the Island Bay village and briefly visit the the Manawa Karioi reforestation project.

The Suzanne Aubert Heritage Centre at the Home of Compassion in Island Bay is our last stop. This gorgeous little museum tells the life passion and journey of a remarkable woman. All up, this is a rejuvenating and inspirational day!

Cost: $85 per person (incl GST). The price includes morning tea. Lunch is at guests' expense.

Pick up points: 9.00 am at the Johnsonville Transport Hub, followed by points in Wilton, Crofton Downes, Ngaio, Khandallah and Karori.

Drop off: at the same locations between 3.30 pm and 4.30 pm.

Accessibility: The trip is taken in a comfortable 12-seater mini-bus which is not wheel-chair accessible. Walking frames can be carried on this tour. Walking distances and steps are kept to minimum. Assistance is offered for mounting and dismounting the minibus.

Bookings are essential.
