Doc Edge Clinic #2 is for anybody who wants to improve their proposal writing skills and learn more about preparing a clear budget overview. These are essential skills when submitting a project to Doc Edge Pitch, a screen funding agency or developing a documentary project.

Programme
This Clinic is dedicated to how to write a strong and compelling story that draws in the audience, how to translate a film story into a written proposal and why this skill is so important.

The Clinic will also cover how to set up a budget, who will read your budget overview and what the most important points are that will need your attention.

Speakers:
Slavko Martinov
Born and raised in Christchurch, Slavko founded screen activist group Sabineprogram in 2012 and created a new genre (propumentary) for his debut feature film Propaganda, which Michael Moore awarded the top prize at the Academy-qualifying Traverse City Film Festival in 2013.

Slavko has written, produced and directed two theatrical features (Pecking Order and Propaganda) and two prime-time television documentaries (The Nip Tuck Trip and One 16th).

He is currently developing feature documentary The Pillow Club with Vendetta and the New Zealand Film Commission and is in development with overseas co-production partners on two other feature documentaries.

Alex Reed
Alex Reed is a creative producer working across film and television and on drama and factual projects. In the UK she worked with Ken Loach on five features and in New Zealand, she produced the documentary, The Women of Pike River, two series of landmark historical series Decades In Colour and apocalyptic teen drama, Cul de Sac, series 3.

Alex has worked as a development executive and produced award-winning adventure documentary, Paddle for the North and associate produced feature documentary, Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web.
Under her own company, Bloom Pictures, Alex is currently co-producing a social impact web series and feature documentary, Silence, directed by Leanne Pooley, and is gearing up to produce recently funded innovative documentary/drama hybrid There’s No “I” in 3’Some. She also has a slate of other Bloom projects in development with a number of creative teams.

Doc Clinic #2 is kindly supported by our partners New Zealand Film Commission, NZ On Air, Christchurch NZ and Ara, Institute of Canterbury.
