Fun fact #1 - The eastern bar-tailed godwit, ‘kuaka’, flies non-stop for eight days from Alaska to Aotearoa every year to escape the northern winter.
Fun fact #2 - The shining cuckoo or ‘pipiwharauroa’ spends winter in the western tropical pacific while the ‘koekoea’, the long-tailed cuckoo travels further east through Micronesia. They return in spring
