Ebbett Collection Floor Talk

Join us for part two of a behind the scenes look at some of the taonga collected by former mayor George Ebbett in the early 1900s.

You will learn the history behind the Ebbett Collection and experience, first hand, rare books depicting the colonists view of early New Zealand.

In this session you will have an opportunity to explore Sydney Parkinson’s 1773 journal he wrote whilst on the Endeavour, find out what the first missionaries were really up to and ponder early writings depicting a colonial view of Māori.
