No international comedian has been more dedicated to the annual NZ International Comedy Festival than Irishman Ed Byrne, who returns in May for his 9th tour down-under with his new show Spoiler Alert, a total sell out at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival.

He says; “I originally intended to call the show “I’ll Millennial You in a Minute”, but my promoter considered the title “off-puttingly baffling”. That’s my own chainsaw in the photo, by the way”. In the show, Ed explores the thin line between righteous complaining and brat-like whining and asks, ‘are we right to be fed up, or are we spoiled?’ Come and watch as Byrne takes this question, turns it upside down and shakes it until the funny falls out. Go on, spoil yourself.

Recognised as one of the finest observational comics in the industry, Ed’s television credits are countless (provided you’re really bad at counting); Mock The Week (BBC), Have I Got News For You (BBC), The Graham Norton Show(BBC), Live At The Apollo (Host, BBC), The One Show (BBC), The World’s Most Dangerous Roads (BBC), Dara and Ed’s Road to Mandalay (BBC), The Pilgrimage (BBC), Top Gear (BBC), QI (BBC). TV3’s 7 Days and Hosting the NZ Comedy Fest Gala in 2014.

Praise for Spoiler Alert:

“Expert stand up from the brilliant Ed Byrne.” - Fringe Biscuit

“Hysterical… a must-see show. My face still hurts from laughing so much.” - The Student Newspaper

“Thoroughly entertaining… he is a total pro and terrific company.” - The Times UK

“There is a reason why he has become a household name.” - Ed Fest Mag

‘‘One of the funniest and most articulate of our established comedians. He makes us laugh with him as well as at him.” - Morning Star

Once again Ed will be joining local promoter, Scott Blanks O.N.Z.M, who first introduced NZ audiences to Ed in 1997 and has continued the relationship for over 20 years.
