Elementary!

Stephen Ashworth has an international reputation as a science communicator and regularly travels the world with his science shows. He is in Palmerston North for one evening only to talk about the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, one of the most important and influential achievements in modern science.

Elementary! A celebration of 150 years of Mendeleev’s Periodic Table.
A number of researchers had attempted to systematise the known elements prior to Mendeleev. Here we shall review some of those attempts and discover why it is that we are honouring Mendeleev's approach, in particular. We shall look at how the periodic table has subsequently developed and review some alternative imaginings of the table.
