In 2013, Taryn Brumfitt posted an unconventional before and after image on the internet that sparked a media frenzy. The image, which embraces body diversity, was seen by over 100 million people worldwide and led to hundreds of interviews and articles.
"Embrace" is the social impact documentary that followed, which explores the issue of body image. The project was supported by nearly 9000 Kickstarter pledgers, and debuted at the Sydney Film Festival in 2016.
"Brilliant, inspiring, and mind changing. Take your daughters, your sons, your mum, your sisters, your friends." - Mia Freedman, Mama Mia
This is being screened as a fundraiser with all donations going to The Good Fund, tackling period poverty in Aotearoa. The Good Fund provides financial support for 50% of the cost of reusable menstrual products. The best bit? There's no criteria - if you need support, just ask!
Tickets $20 plus a donation to The Good Fund. We appreciate that everyone has a different amount left in their wallet at the end of the week so instead of a fixed donation included in the ticket price we ask that you donate what you can afford when you buy your ticket.
