Join us for our first ever Marlborough Entrepreneur Social, an evening of great networking, inspiration and support with guest speaker Indigo Greenlaw, co-founder of The Paper Rain Project.
The Paper Rain Project is a skateboard art and fair trade, organic clothing business that gives back for good on many levels.
Indigo has been involved in The Paper Rain Project, a design-focused social enterprise since its inception in 2010. She grew up in a remote North-West peninsula of Scotland - where her family lived off-grid - before emigrating to New Zealand in 2001.
At 20, Indigo dropped out of Fine Art School to pursue a career in social business, founding Paper Rain in 2013. She runs the business with her partner, Wills Rowe.
Paper Rain combines Indigo’s interests of conservation, art and ethical production into a social enterprise which functions to support good throughout its production line.
Other than working, Indigo has a passion for music, cooking, hiking, yoga, rock climbing and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
In 2018 Indigo was nominated for the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce young business person of the year.
Her company embraces the circular economy with a give-back model, and chooses to use sustainable alternatives. She says, “every bit makes a difference”.
“Every story adds to a movement which is designed to have a positive social and environmental effect. It’s not hard to donate a portion of your profits to support causes or replace imported products with recycled or locally produced materials. We realise it’s more expensive and we can’t do it all, but what is the long-term cost of not trying?” she asks.

It's brand new to Marlborough.
Entrepreneur socials were launched in January 2017. The event is run in 30+ locations around the world. They are independently organised and it is exciting to bring this to this region.
