160 years ago Darwin’s Origin of Species was published, in celebration this course explores the fascinating and often bizarre world of evolution. From a wasp which performs brain surgery on its victim to a fish which warms its eyes and brain, so it can think faster, animals have evolved adaptations that seem beyond our imagination.

Did you know that far from being old news, scientists are still making groundbreaking discoveries in this field, and this course will show you some of the most exciting ones.

Dr Simon Pollard is a spider biologist, award-winning writer and photographer and Adjunct Professor of Science Communication at the University of Canterbury.
