Wellington Brass Band, in conjunction with Hutt City Brass, and Trust Porirua City Brass would like to welcome for the first time on New Zealand shores Chicago Brass as all four ensembles present Exhibition, a concert of major works for brass band.
The Exhibition concert format will see each band perform two works, by composers such as Edward Gregson, Thomas Doss, Dean Goffin, Marcus Venables, Herman Pallhuber, and Kenneth Downie.
Hutt City Brass and Trust Porirua City Brass directed by Matthew Stein, and Clynton Payne, begin the concert performing their dynamic and bold selections. The second half begins with current champions, Wellington Brass Band.
Illustrious Music Director David Bremner returns in 2019, Bremner’s infamous performance style is sure to bring a palpable sense of excitement to the audience. The concert concludes with performances from Chicago Brass. Chicago Brass, directed by Colin Holman, are one of North America’s premier brass bands, their interpretations, unique timbre, and nuance of phrase are sure to provide an exciting, and distinct contrast to the sounds of NZ bands.
