Exhibition opening: Fluid Borders 2019

Please join us to celebrate the opening of Fluid Borders, an annual and inclusive platform for the collision of experimental arts and cultures.

This year participants respond to the notion of time, exploring experiences of growth and adaptation. Although the passage and consumption of time is consistent and unavoidable, this show offers an inexhaustible and infinitely practical space in which artists explore their own concepts of understandings of the temporal, posing the questions:

What can time achieve untethered from the laws of physics? And what happens when we materialize duration and progression as activity?

This experimental exhibition and events-series functions as a conduit for discourse, documentation and interaction, resulting in a series of events which question our perception and understanding of time from different perspectives and channels.

The exhibition will involve the work of:
Marcus Jackson, Mairi Gunn, Emily O’Hara, Peace Myth, Eva Jiang, DALI, RES, Yu, Nicole Hong, Rozana Lee.

It is accompanied by a series of events:
– Thursday 4 July, 5.30pm
Opening night w/ Eliana Darroch (interactive performance), Michael Sperring (sonic improvisation), Chen Qiang (Wechat live video performance).

– Saturday 6 July, 2pm
Zine Workshop w/ Helen Yeung from Migrant Zine Collective.

– Thursday 11 July, 7pm
Keith makes a beat w/ an evening of improvised rock music with Auckland band, Keith.

– Saturday 13 July, 2pm
Artist Rozana Lee will lead the Tai Chi Stretching workshop, bringing the ancient exercise to the audience.

– Thursday 18 July, 7pm
A live percussive performance with, DEATHENTEREDINERROR – a non-rational, non-linear, non-chronometric sonic soundscape accompanied by projected images. And, improvised music by Malcolm Dunn presented via spatialised audio and 360 degree video.

– Thursday 25 July, 7pm

Screenings: video works by Cao Jiatong.

Wukong the Monkey Album launch with live performance by Wukong the Monkey King.
