Expanding Into Computers Workshop Set

This is a new concept from SeniorNet, known as a workshop set. There are 4 sessions that are linked but can be booked separately depending on your requirements and current knowledge.

New to computing? These sessions will introduce different aspects of computing to the novice.

Week 1: Check out Windows:
- Terminology
- Tidy up the start screen and Task Bar.
- Make settings to take charge of the computer (Mouse pointer, Startup, privacy, customising screens)
- Find the Control Panel to check security and maintenance
- Investigate browsers.

Week 2: Produce documents and emails:
- Investigate apps for documents
- Make and save documents with formatting
- Save and find documents
- Make and send emails with formatting using Windows app
- Insert images into documents and emails.

Week 3: Master a spreadsheet (MS Excel, Google Sheets or Open Office Calc):
- Manage the pointers on a spreadsheet.
- Enter numbers and text
- Use the built-in functions to perform finance operations
- Use the If functions.
- Explore relative and absolute addresses

Week 4: Windows 10 apps working with Photos and Videos:
- Load photos into the app and find your collection.
- Edit some photos
- Match the photos app folders to Windows Explorer.
- Make a video from images/
- Load and trim a video. Join videos

Computers are available for your use but you may bring your own laptop to the course. 2-hour sessions for four weeks.

The workshop set runs on 4 consecutive Tuesday mornings for 2 hours from 10am.

Bookings essential but the workshop set is free to financial members. Must be current members of SeniorNet Glenfield or join (annual fee $30). If you are new to SeniorNet you are invited to attend a Meet and Greet session on a Monday morning between 10 am and 12md. Ring for an appointment.
