Free travel now available.

Free minibuses will be leaving from the corner of Thornley and Dimock Street every half hour from 9:00am - 1:30pm, and from the medical centre at 178 Bedford Street on the hour from 9:00am - 1:00pm. Last minibus back from the park leaves at 3:30pm.

You can also walk, bus, or cycle to the location at Whitireira Park!

End Seaweek with a free guided snorkel to investigate the seagrass meadows of Whitirea Park. This site has plenty of sea creatures waiting to be found. Surround yourself with schools of yellow-eyed mullet or try spot seahorses camouflaged between the seaweed.

Other activities on the day:
- Become a marine citizen scientist with Marine Metre Squared
- Learn how to save a beached whale with Project Jonah
- Create a 'message to the Moana' with a local artist
- Help us love our Moana with a beach clean-up
- Learn how to make a non-plastic bag in less than 5 minutes
- Build your own sea creature!

No bookings required, just turn up. New snorkellers are encouraged.

Snorkel sessions start approximately every hour on the hour between 10am and 2pm (we advise you to turn up half an hour early to secure your place anytime between 9.30 and 1.30).

What you need to know:
- All equipment, guides and safety gear is provided.
- Please note the minimum age is 8 years, and children below 16 must be accompanied by a snorkelling adult.
- Participants must be able to swim 50 metres.
