A Forest and Bird Conservation Week tramp .Bring your tramping boots and come along for a scenic walk up the Rangiwahia Track. We will encounter native birds, majestic trees, views of Mt Ruapehu and a waterfall on the way. After crossing the beautiful arched bridge over a deep gorge, we eventually reach the bush-line and Rangiwahia Hut. This hut with its skiing history is one of the most popular tramping huts in the Ruahine Forest Park. Up here we will explore some alpine plants (if not covered in snow!) and hopefully enjoy the amazing views of the Central Plateau and even Mt Taranaki. After lunch we will return to the carpark the same way.

Palmerston North: Carpool:
Meet on Church St, opposite Centrepoint Theatre & Salvation Army Shop (on Railway land side). If you carpool, please share petrol costs with the driver.

Fitness Level:

What to bring:
Bring tramping boots/stout footwear, rain jacket, plenty of warm clothes, beanie, food and water for the day, and walking poles if you usually use them—and do not forget your camera.
