Aunty and the Star People, tells the inspirational story of New Zealander, Jean Watson. At age 50, Jean sold her home in Wellington and founded a children's home in Southern India. Thirty two years later, the Karunai Illam (Grace Home) continues to be a home where children thrive, enjoying a safe and loving environment, as well as educational opportunities.
Come and enjoy an evening at the Hollywood Cinema in Sumner, for a special screening of the film to raise funds for educational resources for the Karunai Illam and the neighbouring Karunai Dhan School.
Local Christchurch teachers Hannah Smaill and her mother Christine Brown are teaching at the school at the end of this year and will be taking the resources to the school with them. We would love to stock their shelves with these much needed resources.
