Watch Michelangelo Antonioni’s iconic psychological mystery set in swinging-sixties London – a journey through the lens into the mind of the photographer.

To celebrate the exhibition 'The New Photography – Life in the 60s and 70s' we’re screening 'Blow-Up', a film that made a big impression on the exhibition’s photographers when it was released in 1960s New Zealand. This iconic psychological mystery features David Hemmings and Vanessa Redgrave in swinging-sixties London, taking viewers on a journey through the lens into voyeurism and paranoia.

'Blow-Up' was awarded the ultimate prize at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival and made a splash with audiences around the world, photographers and non-photographers alike. The controversial film juxtaposed the edgy photography of the street with the staid environment of the studio, becoming iconic for the way it explores photography as a way of documenting, experiencing, and questioning life itself.

Blow-Up (1966)
Run time: 111 minutes
Rated M: Suitable for mature audiences aged 16 years and over.
