Directed by Miles Jackson and Dominique Blatti, NCMA's inaugural classical and flamenco guitar festival will take place at the recently re-opened Nelson Centre of Musical Arts state of the art facilities.
The festival promises to be an inspiring week of concerts and musical study, with students choosing between classical and flamenco guitar or flamenco dance.
For those wishing to study and perform chamber music, there will also be an opportunity to work with the Goya String Ensemble.
The daily programme will consist of:
- ensemble playing
- forums
- workshops
- concerts
Students will be put into an ensemble group with players of a similar level and the daily routine will begin with these groups under the direction of either Miles Jackson, Dominique Blatti or Vincent Lindsey-Clark.
Each afternoon there will be an additional ensemble class for all players under the direction of Vincent Lindsey-Clark.
Daily workshops including guitar making and forums with a special flamenco guitar workshop are also available for all guitarists.
Each evening there will be a concert from the tutors including a special flamenco concert. There will also be student concerts. The final concert on Saturday 19th January will feature the ensemble groups and the combined guitar orchestra.
All tutors will be available for private lessons which are to be arranged and paid for directly with the teacher.
Enrolments are open to students of all ages. An entrance level of around grade 3 is advisable.
