'Collectables seeking new homes' is an auction of donated artwork to raise funds for the Athfield-designed Mahara Gallery upgrade.

More than 160 artworks in many media, styles and periods have been donated by gallery supporters and well-wishers, and feature artists well-known across New Zealand and internationally. There is something here for everyone.

Some major names have been recently added including Gretchen Albrecht, Shane Cotton and Christina Conrad, joining ceramics by Mirek Smisek, Barry Brickell, Chester Nealie, Wilf Wright and Janet Wright; paintings by Peter McIntyre, Allie Eagle, Matt Couper, Tony de Lautour and an early landscape attributed to Isabel Field, sister of Frances Hodgkins; prints and drawings by John Drawbridge, Susan Skerman and Maria Olsen; photographs by Neil Pardington, Tony Whincup, Alan Leatherby, Richard Wootton; and many others.

These amazing artworks will be auctioned at a special event at Mahara on Saturday 9 February starting at 5pm. The world famous John Mowbray will be hosting proceedings.
