Special Exhibition | 31 May - 29 September 2019
Showcasing the history of Market Gardening in Whangarei.
"A history of growing and selling food locally in Whangarei."
Growing food locally is in Whangarei’s roots. Kiwi North’s latest exhibition tells the story of Whangarei’s first commercial gardens, the rise of the country’s largest fruit growing industry and early grocery and fruiterer shops around town.
Join us to explore historic photographs, advertising, kitchen and garden tools. Meet some of our local community gardens that are leading us in whanaungatanga, developing relationships through shared experiences and working together, providing people with a sense of belonging. They are inspiring us to get back to our roots and get back in our gardens to feed our families, our neighbours and those in need.
