Have Something to Say - A Collective Exhibition

Six artists, with six distinct voices and six creative visions, collaborate in a collective exhibition - have something to say.

To arts curator & collaborator Margie Beattie, bringing these creative voices and distinct visual styles together, provided them all an opportunity to tell their compelling creative stories.

“An artists’ life is full of story-telling, from musing on themes that often obsess them, to the intense creative process, resulting always in having something to say. I strongly wanted to help these artists find an outlet for their visual stories and created – have something to say - a collective exhibition as this platform,” says Margie.

“My hope is that it will be the beginning of them plunging either collectively or alone, and letting their visual stories emerge onto the Wellington art scene, without the need for the support of a conventional art dealer. Anyone who wants to experience fresh art voices is invited to engage with this free event.”

“The ground floor custom-made gallery space at Te Auaha, the new creative campus in the Dixon/ Cuba precinct is a perfect space for these six artists to have their say.” adds Margie.

The six artists are:
- nationally & internationally acclaimed painter Charlotte Handy, with her painting and photography career spanning over two decades
- popular contemporary mixed -media artist Glen Jorna - Head of Visual Arts at Wellesley College
- a sublime sculptor in marble and granite- Johnny Turner - whose works pay homage to indigenous and classical themes
- exciting young photography talent Jasmine Chalmers - her themes encompassing baroque and surreal worlds
- digital textile artist Kirsten Sutherland who creates embroidered artworks under the St Fabiola (the Patroness Saint of divorced people) banner. Her work features religious and psychological symbolism, drawing from nature, science and the world of mythology and fairy tale
- Rosie Ralph - an award winning young abstract mark maker who uses a range of unique colour palettes in her unrestrained paintings

A percentage of the sale proceeds will go towards Vincent Art Workshops - a Wellington arts access institution, the collective feel passionately about supporting.
