Celebrate 175 years of Henderson as a destination for journeys great and small – from kauri timber headed east to the harbour to Aucklanders headed west to buy fruit or wine, picnic, or have family days out.
Nestled on the side of Oratia stream, 'Tui Glen' - the first NZ AA registered Motor Camp - will be the stage for a '175 Henderson Heritage Picnic'. Join the West Auckland Historical Society and Club Moderne (the Art Deco Society) and admire stunning veteran, vintage and classic cars, bring your version of an old-fashioned picnic, join old time games, live jazz from 12 to 1.30pm, savour goodies from the food stalls. Best costume, hat, picnic basket, Car of the Day, egg and spoon, sack races and more - all get a prize.
Discover where the 'Ocean Wave', the skating rink and the boats were and take in the heritage Tui Glen photo exhibition and other displays.
Brought to you by the West Auckland Historical Society, celebrating 175 years of Henderson.
