Northland author and historian, Kaye Dragicevich will talk about the hardships and sacrifices endured by the pioneering families who came to New Zealand from Croatia in search of a better life. Kaye tells the stories of 200 of these families in her book, 'Pioneer Families of the Far North'.

Kaye has lived in Kaitaia since 1966 and after retiring from her job at a local bank she drifted in to researching the history of her local area. In 2007 Kaye was asked to write a fortnightly story for the Doubtless Bay Times, which led to over 70 stories being published. Over the years Kaye has built up a large data base of over 30,000 historical photographs and extensive library of Northland history books.

Kaye's interest in history has become a passion leading her to self published six books. She is currently working on 'Soldiers of the Far North - They Shall Grow Not Old', to be launched in April 2020. It is about 119 soldiers who enlisted from the Far North, but actually came from many regions of New Zealand.

No booking required. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
