Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland. The tour will start from, and return to, the Orakei Train Station.
Each of our Historic Walks covers Maori and European history of the Auckland isthmus, the trials and tribulations of Auckland's early growth, natural and social history, historic places, public art and heritage art.
Guided Auckland City Walk - an entertaining 3.5 hour discovery experience around the central city. Rich encounters with almost a thousand years of history since Maori first settled Tamaki Makarau - "the land desired by many".
Meeting point for the walk is Orakei Train Station. Return fare approximately $4 or use HOP Card.
Tour guide David Hill is the founder of Auckland Walks, a professional guide in Europe and Australasia for over 30 years, former curator of NZ Historic Places Trust. He is a member of Pro Guides of New Zealand, a graduate of History and Art History from University of Auckland has received a Global Recognition Award from Grand Circle (Travel) Corporation, USA, and a Te Papa Tupu Emerging Writers Award.
