‘Hoch and Green’ is a creative collaboration between long-time friends Julie Green and Gina Hochstein.

The duo say their intention is to “try to draw the viewer into their carefully crafted mise en scène, where there is beauty in the everyday, much of which we take for granted.”

In this exhibition at Kumeu Arts Centre they will display two series from their collection 'Between the Cloak and Land' + 'Symphony of Movement'.

Exhibition Opening - Friday the 1st March. 6:30-8:30. All welcome.
Opening hours: Mon-Fri- 9-5, Sat -10-3, Sun-Closed

About the work:
'Between the Cloak and the Land'
"We notice the netting details - of layering, pattern making and the delicacy of the treatment of positive and negative space. The way the ends fray, the gathering, the dispersing, the knotting, the tension of tightness and looseness, the freedom, the rhythm and where the layers of knotting intersect or overlay. Even the intensity of the colour is used in a syncopated fashion."

'Symphony and Movement'
"Through the ‘Symphony of Movement’ series, we reflect on the fragility of nature. The beauty in the rhythm of what nature provides to us. The colour, the light can be viewed as playing through the thin filament of the petals and the undulating fluidity. The fragility reflects the universe in which we live.

Each link is totally dependent on connections; both prior and after. The undulating rhythm of the stem connects by way of movement to the next. The viewer is transported through a symphony of movement through one layer to the next by way of diaphanous layers of lightness.
