Hugh Stewart's Odyssey: A story of WWI and the Bridge of Remembrance:
Dr Gary Morrison, UC Department of Classics presents a talk on Hugh Stewart, Classics Professor, New Zealand Army Officer, and RSA President. His story influences our memory of WWI, not least by making us think about the inscription on the Bridge of Remembrance: Quid non pro patria.

This free public talk is the first in a series of three hosted by the Teece Museum in association with BECA Christchurch Heritage Festival 2019.
Encountering local heroes of classics at the UC Teece Museum. In the past 146 years, Canterbury students of many disciplines have benefitted from some truly remarkable teachers of classics. This series of short-format talks will highlight the work of three local heroes of classics, who were influential and inspirational for several generations of students. Take advantage of the opportunity to view Fantastic Feasts, the newest exhibition at the Teece Museum.
