Hobbiton Movie Set is delighted to host an evening to remember in The Shire celebrating International Hobbit Day, the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins on Sunday 22nd September 2019.

Hobbiton Movie Set is an experience to tantalise the senses as guests find themselves engulfed in the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of the Shire, at the home of the Hobbits, as featured in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies. Your guide will escort you through the twelve-acre site at dusk, recounting fascinating details of how the movie set was created.

With a drink in hand you will have a chance to wander the Mill Marketplace, a bustling, vibrant experience. Taste a real piece of the Shire from individually themed stalls bursting with traditional Hobbit fare.

The market stalls will consist of New Zealand cheeses, freshly baked artisan breads, cured meats, smoked fish, and of course fresh produce from the Hobbiton gardens. Under the fully themed stretch tent will be a live Celtic band and an array of food from a self-service banquet table.

A short stroll across the double arch stone bridge is The Green Dragon Inn, as featured in the in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy as the local meeting place for all the residents of Hobbiton. It is the perfect place for guests to satisfy their thirst, indulging in a few beverages from our Hobbit Southfarthing range, which encompasses two traditional ales, an apple cider and non-alcoholic ginger beer, all handcrafted and exclusive to Hobbiton Movie Set.

As you explore the masterfully recreated Inn or relax in front of the open fires, staff will be serving hearty Hobbit sized canapés throughout the evening. Outside the Inn there will be a range of Hobbiton themed games to partake in and of course there will be prizes to be won so make sure you get involved!

Directly behind the Green Dragon Inn is the fully themed Party Marquee which will offer a quieter space for guests to sit back and enjoy a seated meal at your leisure. The Marquee is a replica of the tent seen at Bilbo’s eleventy first birthday party. The exterior is beautifully created from yellow painted canvas and the interior is fully themed with colourful bunting and lanterns creating a festival-like atmosphere.

Awaiting inside the marquee will be a buffet table overflowing with Hobbit fare. The feast is designed to incorporate everything that keeps a Hobbits cheeks plump and as is tradition in the Shire, second helping are encouraged.

Throughout the evening there will be roaming entertainment mingling amongst the guests. Keep an eye out for the Hobbit roaming around with the raffle and be sure to sign up in The Green Dragon retail shop to win!

To add to this premium experience, you will have the opportunity to join in a guided evening lantern tour. This stunning journey under moonlight will travel through the village, breathtakingly lit up with Hobbit Hole chimney’s smoking and lanterns glowing against the darkness. Tours will depart regularly from outside the Green Dragon Inn throughout the evening.

At the conclusion of the evening, guests will make their way past the Party Marquee where their coach will await their departure.
