There is something about David Fincher's Fight Club that never translated to DVD, streaming or ham radio. For a start - it's very dark, not in content, but actually an incredibly dark image. Sir Fincher wanted it to look like oil and 35mm captures all of the colours of the dark. Another thing is - and this is important - the film's protagonist Tyler Durden is a projectionist. Hell, he even educates the audience on “cigarette burns”.
The time to play this movie just feels right. 1999 - right before the world turned grey - was a harbinger of the dark world we now inhabit. Fight Club, we celebrate you 20 years on.
