The Jazz Club welcomes Maria and Ben’s Quartet to Kerikeri.
Maria O’Flaherty is based in Auckland. Her music spans several genres including Jazz, Latin, Celtic and French Chanson. She sings with some of NZ’s most respected jazz musicians, three of which are members of this quartet due to play the New World Theatre bar Friday 29th March.
Ben Fernandez on piano was formally trained in classical music and has a Masters Degree in Jazz Performance. He has played at events and concerts in over 25 countries. He performs regularly at official functions and ceremonies hosted by the Governor General of NZ.
Dr Oli Holland on bass is a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland. He has over 25 CD releases to his credit and has performed with some of the worlds finest musicians at venues in Europe, Australasia and the USA.
Ron Samsom on drums is the head of Jazz studies at the University of Auckland. He has won many awards both locally and internationally for his music. Ron and Oli have performed for us before.
The Quartet’s music will be polished, tasteful, entertaining and a delight to listen to.
