UPDATE - Unfortunately given that about 80% of people seem to be away for the holiday week I have chosen to cancel this fundraising event so as not to make a loss. I'm determined to be a politician who is willing to stop doing things that don't work, so even though cancelling is disappointing it feels consistent with my campaign's values. All tickets will be refunded to the credit card used to purchase them.

Thanks for the heaps of support I have had for this event (including from the many people who wanted to come but were away) and the support for my decision to stand for city council. I think it's something I could be really good at, but it's still blimmin' scary and I'm very grateful to know you all have my back. The biggest help you can give me right now is to stay in touch and tell everyone you know in Wellington that I'm standing.

Turning 40 is a chance to celebrate all the wonderful people in my life (that’s you!) and the amazing experiences I’ve had. It is also a chance to reflect on what I’m going to do with the years ahead.

I always knew climate change was an important issue, but honestly, I just hoped other people would sort it out. That doesn’t cut it anymore - the time when I could choose to opt out has passed. Climate change now has to be everyone’s thing. That’s why I’m running for council.

Like all parents, I want a bright future for my kids. To make that a reality we need to future proof our infrastructure to reduce emissions and adapt to sea level rise and the other effects of global warming. Local government must be at the forefront of making that happen in New Zealand.

Funds raised from my birthday bash will go toward my campaign for Northern ward in October.

To put our kids front and centre, I decided to have my birthday shindig plus fundraiser at Chipmunks in Tawa. Bring your kids and let them hoon around to burn off steam in the second week of the school holidays. If you don't have kids you could bring someone else's - just get their parents' permission first! Or come on your own and be surrounded by the inspiring, joyful sounds of children playing - haha, just kidding, they will be screeching and crying mostly, but come anyway!

Snacks and a light dinner are included, plus non-alcoholic drinks. Sorry no booze, Chipmunks is not licensed.

There will be $5 raffle tickets on the night so please bring cash to win super cool prizes.
