He has been twice New Zealand's brass solo champion. Represented New Zealand as a member of the National Band of New Zealand and has been honoured as one of New Zealand's top variety entertainers with a Scroll of Honour, the AGNEW Award for Excellence and was named the 2016-17 Top Musician of the Year by the Variety Artist Club of New Zealand.
