Remnant Kahikatea Forest Restoration.
The Jubilee Care Group meets on a regular basis to undertake various environmental tasks within the park. Meet at the Migrant Centre car park at 9.00am, follow 'Community Activity' signs.
Come and help with the removal of pest plants and invasive weeds from the most important remnant bush area in Hamilton City. This mixed podocarp forest of 5 hectares recently had tradescantia (Wandering Willie) weed covering the forest floor reducing natural bush regeneration.
The group have targeted the removal of this weed and are down to the last remaining scatterings. Come along and help with this project, and have a sense of contributing positively to the urban restoration of Hamilton City.
Some planting of the forest edges, pest animal monitoring and control.
