Julius Caesar is Handel's best-known and most-loved opera, and deservedly so. It features some very famous arias such as "Piangero, la sorte mia", "V'adoro, pupille", and "Da tempeste", all sung by Cleopatra - described by the prominent Handel scholar Winton Dean as "one of the great characters of opera, an immortal sex-kitten whose emotions, if ephemeral, are obsessive while they last". There are no less than 8 singing roles in the opera. Hamish Gould, a counter-tenor from Australia will sing the title role of Julius Caesar. This production will be staged, with professional orchestra.
