Junji Ito (伊藤 潤二) is an internationally acclaimed Japanese horror manga author. He debuted in 1987, publishing popular horror manga, and most of his work has been published in English. His outstanding titles include Tomie and Uzumaki were adapted into live-action films and Gyo has inspired an animated film. He is recognized as one of the greatest contemporary artists working in the horror genre.
Overload NZ Anime & Manga Convention is hosting Junji Ito this year and presenting an exhibition of his work in two locations: Graphic Novel Cafe (12-25 September, Admission Free) and at the Overload Convention. (28 September, event pass purchase required) It will feature 13 illustrations from Junji Ito’s first-ever published art book, Igyō Sekai 異形世界 (Grotesque World) which was published to celebrate his 30 years journey as a manga artist.
