Ken Nysse:
"This exhibition focuses on scenes and aspects of Hawke's Bay (where I live) and the Central Volcanic mountains (where I 'play' in the winter).

I love the outdoors and visit the Hawke's Bay beaches and Ruapehu ski fields as the weather allows, but through these journeys, I am presented by the most amazing landscapes and colours. My paintings are based on self-taken photographs that are a valuable reference, back in my studio.

I paint primarily in acrylics and have dabbled in oils and in some instances, I have added other media such as sand, stones or woven paper/flax to create texture and interest. Also having a mathematics background, I am detail orientated and incorporate the 'golden ratio' into my compositions to helpful make my paintings more pleasant to the viewer's eyes."

Clayton Gibson:
"I am originally from Gisborne but now living in Te Awanga, Hawke's Bay. Since moving to the Hawke's Bay, I have exhibited my work in Art Feast, and in the Norsewear Art Awards, the Wildflower Sculpture Exhibition and at the Community Art Centre in Hastings.

My work can be found exhibited in the Quay Gallery in Napier and I currently have a sculpture selected for the Hawke’s Bay Art Review 2019. I work predominately as a sculptor, using recycled totara posts to form the basis of most of my work. For this exhibition however, I have put aside my chisels and have directed my energies into painting.

Most of the paintings displayed, are painted in oils on paper and reflect my feelings of wonder, experienced when I see a kina shell washed up on the beach."
