Run or walk or both this popular 10k hill race in the Wither Hills farm park, Blenheim.
Great views over the town across to Taylor Pass and a challenging but fun course attracts participants of all abilities, from first timers giving it a go to some of New Zealand’s top runners.
Course description:
The course starts from the Rifle Range car park heading up towards the Quail stream car park on the farm track before turning right and crossing Quail stream on the small footbridge beside the car park, looping back on a track though the trees.
After a short downhill a left turn leads to a steep climb up the ridge to the rotary lookout, the course then continues on the ridge, past the twin tanks, climbing along the Taylor View Track before taking a left turn and heading downhill on the Reservoir Ridge track and then forking left down the Upper Harling Park track.
At the bottom of the Upper Harling track another left turn leads down a short hill back towards the Quail Stream car park, finally once more across the Quail Stream footbridge and downhill all the way back to the finish.
A children’s race will also be run at this event on part of the flat and hill. Course distance 1.5km. Entry for this is on the day. Age group 12 years and under – Entry on the day only. Print off entry form getting your child to bring it with entry fee to Registration Desk.
Start times:
07:45am - Walkers – This category is social walking all the way.
08:00am - Hybrid – Run/Walk. Those entrants than compete and the finishing time is under 60 minutes, you will automatically be transferred to the main running event. This rule is in for fairness to all.
08:30am - Runners
08:35am - Children
Prize giving:
At the venue following the event. Sausage sizzle & refreshments. Performances prizes and spot prizes.
