Kirtan is a form of devotional singing, with roots that date back over 500 years. It is a form of Bhakti-Yoga, and its sweet sound vibration has the power to open the heart.
During kirtan, mantras are accompanied by musical instruments and rhythmic drumming, and the audience are encouraged to participate by chanting, clapping, dancing, or simply meditating. In its heartfelt expression, kirtan can induce profound states of meditation, peace and bliss.
Madhava Das began the practice of kirtan at age 5 in Mauritius. After moving to Vrindavan, India, he spent his youth absorbed in melodious kirtan, and has since become an influential personality in the global kirtan scene. He has been touring the world tirelessly for the last 9 years Chanting to spread Peace and Harmony in many places around the world across Europe & Euro Woodstock, South America, Africa, United States, Australia, and New Zealand! Now based in Switzerland, Madhava travels extensively throughout the world with partner Radhika, enlivening audiences with the power of devotional kirtan. He fuses his Mauritian roots with the influences of India to produce a unique style of kirtan, but one in which the main ingredient is the heartfelt bhakti - you will not be able to resist the urge to join in!
