Ngaroto Sailing Club are running two 3-day learn to sail programs during the October school holidays. The first program is from 29 September to 1 October and the second from 6 to 8 October. Kids will learn the basics of boat handling, knots, tacking, gybing etc.
The program is suitable for children 10–15 years old. Boats and lifejackets will be provided. After completing the course the kids will be able to continue developing their sailing skills through regular club sailing on Sundays (pre Xmas) and Saturdays from Feb. 2020. Additional training may be available on Thursday and Friday nights through the Waikato Thames Yachting Association youth development program.
Beyond the basic skill of being able to sailing a boat, sailing as a sport offers the opportunity to compete at club, school, regional, national, international and Olympic level.
