The ‘Legal Tender” duo of Ian and Moira Campbell have been performing an eclectic mix of Rural/Folk originals and covers around New Zealand for more years than they care to remember. Frequent collaborators with various members of the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band and other well known kiwi musicians, they have featured at numerous country/folk festivals and concerts.
With their blend of alternative rural/folk down-home original songs and alt/covers they have entertained audiences from the Bay of Islands to the Deep South. Sensitive guitar/bass arrangements of songs by various artists including Guy Clarke, Hank and Holly Williams, Gillian Welsh, Lori McKenna, and their own are rendered with earthy integrity and powerful vocal harmonies.
Doors open at 7pm and the first half of the evening features an open mic of regulars. Interested musicians can see the compere for a one-song spot if there is room on the blackboard. There are raffles, and a lovely supper before Legal Tender Duo begin, at approx. 9pm. Local to the Kapiti Coast, they are always enjoyable and entertaining and have won a swag of Golden Guitar awards in recent years.
Cost is $5 members/$10 public. See our Treasurer Val at the door to pay subs of $25 to become a member if you like to come often. Monthly concerts are scheduled from Feb-December.
