Cambridge Repertory Society is proud to present its latest production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, a deliciously wicked, darkly compelling black comedy about corruption and seduction in pre-revolutionary France.

The Marquise de Merteuil (Janine Swainson) and the Vicomte de Valmont (Matt Silvester) have devised a way to relieve the boredom of their aristocratic lives using sex and sexual politics to humiliate, degrade and wound others. These despicable, but intriguing characters manipulate all around them – Madame de Volanges (Lucinda Heslin-Wightman) and her innocent daughter (Sylvia Neild), Madame to Tourvel (Catherine Wilde) and the Chevalier Danceny (Jared Wooldridge) – leaving despair and sorrow in their wake.

Based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel, Christopher Hampton’s humorous play still resonates today with acid dialogue and brazen audacity.

The season opens on 14th September and runs for two weeks.
