Suitable for beginners to printmaking, lino is a great place to start!

It’s also a medium suitable for exploration if you’re not a total beginner, so even if you've done some printmaking before don’t be shy to sign up and join in the fun. You can refresh your skills and extend them, trying out several different techniques. The course will be tailored to your individual needs.

Tutor Lisa Feyen will guide you through the process of relief printmaking over a series of 8 evening classes, that will cover everything from where to look for inspiration, how to prepare your block, to multi-coloured block printing, reduction cuts, printing on fabric and using the CAN etching press to print your limited edition!

Learn how to select, design and prepare a suitable image, transfer it to lino and carve your image into the block using lino cutting tools. For the beginners we will initially be printing a small edition on paper, as we do it learning how to ink your block, register your paper using a template, and work a press.

Use of the CAN tools and press, and inks are included. You will need to bring paper suitable for printing on, which will be discussed at the first class. We will be working with A5 (148mm x 210mm) lino blocks, so if you want to prepare some images beforehand, you can use this size as a guideline. Preparation beforehand is not essential however. Lino will be available for purchase in the CAN shop.

Cost: $180 for the course. Pre-payment secures your place.
You can pay at the front desk or online (REF EV1925) - Call 06 835 9448 for details.
