mainly music

Three hours of action, discovery and using sensory motor skills.

From birth, children are exploring their senses and processing new information. They begin to make sense of the world around them as they grow through the exploration of new textures, materials and resources. Sensory play is a valuable way of engaging children in activities that will heighten their senses and enrich their learning.

These events are designed for pre-school children and their up to 6 year old siblings.

What you need to know
A few stations will contain gluten.
Adult supervision for every child is required by a caregiver or parent.
You are welcome to bring snacks for your child. We will have light refreshments available on site for purchase.

Take part in an event to develop your child's growing mind
We know the difficulty mums have, particularly those without school aged children, in finding enough to do at a value for money price in the holidays.
mainly music gets messy will have indoor and outdoor sensory play for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and even young school aged children. Children will come with their grown-up with the purpose of ‘getting messy’. Playing with shaving foam to ‘create’. Wash dolls’ clothes and peg them on a line sounds fun – fine motor skills will have been exercised. Use diggers and excavators in a pretend ‘mud’ with rocks in the container. Sift through a container filled with grains of wheat to find shapes and figurines. And more and more and more.
It’ll be your chance for connection with other families in your neighbourhood.

Enable mainly music to help families at risk
We’re often looking for ways to raise funds and raise awareness of the work mainly music undertakes in communities or locations where families are doing life tough. Did you know sessions are held with mums and their babies in Wiri Correctional Facility? Or with children and their whanau at a school in Auckland in our Bridging to School sessions. These families don’t pay to attend and we employ Session Facilitators to ensure the learning and connection happens.
