By overwhelming demand. Maksim is coming to New Zealand to do his first show in October this year!

Maksim Mrvica’s unique music style has broken down the boundaries between music genres, from classical and movie themes to pop, rock and electronic.

Maksim showed early promise, finishing his education at the Ferenz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest and Alexander Skrjabin Conservatioire in Paris after already having won first prize in a National Competition in Croatia as well as first prize at Rubinstein Piano Competition in France.

Bringing classical music to the public was his original dream.

After signing a contract with EMI, the 2003 album “Piano Player” sold millions of copies worldwide. Its track list includes hair-raising arrangements such as Jeff Wayne’s take on Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee and Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

With “Croatian Rhapsody”, released in 2015, the title track of which is now one of Mrvica’s biggest hits, his success encompassed far more than just the classical music world, building a diverse and devoted global audience.

His 20-city tour in Japan that was considered the biggest tour ever by an international artist. That tour’s success led to invitations from the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra to perform as a soloist, as well as by the Chopin Society in Warsaw to celebrate the bicentennial of Chopin’s birth.

In 2018 Maksim played over 60 shows in China, many of these in Stadiums, in a market where his dazzling, rock star style totally captivates the audience.

His work has been included on the official album of Olympic Games and has earned an MTV award for best debut crossover album of the year, as well as having reached over 120 million hits on YouTube.

His artistic diversity runs beyond music to the fashion realm, where his collaborations with such leading brands as Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, and Christian Dior have even led to his being named Best Dressed Man by Vogue Homme.

While his dream has changed somewhat, the pianist has certainly inspired more people to listen to piano music. Mrvica says he loves to experiment, and his wild often rebellious renditions and crossover theme give him the opportunity to do just that.
