Tis the final week of Fluid Borders 2019! Please join us on the first event of the week, Improv360 at Fluid Borders by Malcolm Dunn and fellow musicians.
The event would involve capturing a series of improvised music performances. A 360 degree video camera and an ambisonic mic will be used to capture the performance as an immersive audio visual experience.
The performance will be available for viewing on YouTube later in the week.

Malcolm Dunn is a musician and acoustician from Auckland. He creates atmospheric soundscapes as part of the Lower Bar Collective and produces solo work under the name Colm.
Improvisation also forms a key part of Malcolm’s live performance. He is a regular part of the Vitamin S collective and has performed improvised music in various groups and as a solo guitarist.
As an acoustician, Malcolm is involved on daily basis with controlling sound in the built environment. He has a special interest in spatial audio technology, both in capturing of an existing sound field and as part of virtual reality simulations.
Ivan Mršić is an interdisciplinary visual artist, percussionist, composer and improviser. His long running practice builds on the foundations of the avant gardé music, performance and art. Part of his aural experimental practice explores the sonic potential of discarded everyday-objects. He also builds instruments himself – his “Theareye Collection” - operating on the assumption that virtually anything can become a musical instrument under certain conditions.
Liam Bowen is an Auckland-based musician and instrument maker with a background in playing and making traditional instruments, in particular those of Aotearoa, taonga pūoro. Liam is a skilled improvisor and has performs regularly as a soloist and as part of larger ensembles.
Rob Morgan plays bass guitar and electronics with the Lower Bar Collective and has a particular interest in the influence of the physical space on the performance and audience interaction.
Matt Findlay plays electric guitar, found sounds and electronics with the Lower Bar Collective. He enjoys creating large soundscapes and that often blur the lines between between noise and music.
