Martha & The Backseat Drivers

Based in Auckland, & known and respected around the country, Martha & the Backseat Drivers have been performing together since 2016. They put strong emphasis on harmony, attention to dynamics and a great sense of rhythm. This is music you feel. From ballads to blues to road house rhythm & blues by US writers like Steve Earle, Townes van Zant and Gram Parsons.

Martha Louise is well respected from many years in the NZ folk scene performing both solo and in groups at festivals and in folk clubs around the country. This group features her own songs as well as Americana, gospel, blues and acoustic pop. Martha plays guitar, dulcimer & lead vocals.

The Backseat drivers are; Paul Symons (guitar, bvs), Cameron Bennett (Weissenborn, bvs), & Stuat Grimshaw (resonator bass, bvs).

Mark Laurent will do an opening set & probably join the band on harmonica for a few tunes. The koha teapot will be on the counter near the cash register & your contributions for the musicians are greatly appreciated, thanks.
