Learn Te Reo Māori Through Play.

Kaupapa is about creating sustainably and learning playfully. Kaupapa is a talking description game in te reo māori. Creating an opportunity to fast track your language learning with your friends and whānau.

In this game your kōrero is your best tool to communicate and win. It encourages you to think in te reo maori and call on all those words you never knew you had. It’s a way to bring more of te ao maori into your world.

Kaupapa is here to celebrate the vibrance of te whare tapere and the mana of te reo māori.
It’s made with a commitment to kaitiakitanga using recycled and sustainable materials.

Bringing together the akomanga and the katakata. Bringing together old school mātauranga and māori pop culture.

It’s about getting together with friends and whānau and letting your reo flow, at any level of fluency. Kia tākaro – let’s play!

Kaupapa has been developed by Kuruho Wereta and Rosie Remmerswaal. Join Kuruho and Rosie on May 18 to play and learn more about Kaupapa!

Kuruho Wereta was raised here in Ōtaki and studied at the Whare Whakairo at Te Wānanga o Raukawam and ngā mahi a Te Whare Pora (skills of the weaving house). Kuruho left Ōtaki in 2011 to pursue a career as a ranger.

Rosie Remmerswaal was raised in Te Mata a Māui and studied design at Toi Whakaari. She works with The Kindness Institute in Tāmaki Makaurau.

They are sharing their passion for whakawhanaungatanga through Kaupapa.
Kuruho and Rosie will present two workshops open to all ages.

Workshop 1: 10 am – 1pm
Workshop 2: 2 – 5pm

Those interested in signing up for these workshops should email - match@maorilandfilm.co.nz
