This year start your annual Melbourne Cup shenanigans right here at Portlander! As we understand that not all heroes wear capes, Portlander are teaming up with The Life Flight Trust to bring you The Melbourne Cup Long Lunch!

This year’s pre-race celebration will not only provide an exquisite spread of food with a complimentary arrival glass of bubbles, but you will have access to our extensive whiskey and wine collection! For only $130pp, this is a Melbourne Cup bash not to be missed.

Start your lucky streak with the silent on-site auction teamed with each course, as we have some topnotch prizes up for grabs including accommodation, merchandise and an adventurous trip across our picturesque country! The main course is bound to peak your curiosity, in more ways than one, with a ‘Day in the Life’ session with a life saver from the Life Flight team.

A VR system will be set up in Portlander for you to experience the life threatening situations the Life Flight team deal with on a daily basis, saving the lives of those in the trickiest of situations. From the top to the bottom of the country, Life Flight provide specialized and dedicated emergency air services 365 days a year, 24/7.

Every single day 4 people will need the help of Life Flight’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter or Air Ambulance Plane.

Each call out is unique and different but nonetheless just as important as the last, requiring a different approach – from a car accident to flying a premature baby to a life-saving surgery, the responsive team are ready to act on their feet.

The chopper and plane are equipped with world-class search, rescue, communications and medical equipment, with the team trained and ready to to response to a wide range of emergencies. More than 30,000 people have been helped by Life Flight in their time of need, for many of those the emergency flight saved their life.

In 2018 alone, Life Flight carried out almost 1,400 missions from each end of the country, and is classed as an emergency service working together with hospitals nationwide.
